The very name evokes traditions, flavours and colours of the area.
Bertinoro has the title of “City of wine”, its vineyards produce both white and red wines. It is a land of ruby and gold.
Wine is called ‘e be’ (the drink), and wine is the colour of the region’s most typical wine Albana, but is also the colour of its vineyards in autumn. But it is not only vineyards that are tinged with gold in this area rich in history, art and culture.
Legend has it that Galla Placidia, daughter of the Emperor Thoedosius, while passing through the region, having tried a wine served in a humble terracotta cup, declared: “you should be drunk in gold” (berti in oro, in Italian), from which the town took its name.
Bertinoro, a town that has made the past its most precious asset.
