Sangiovese Bertinoro

The most famous of the local red wines is Sangiovese: the story goes that the Capuchin friars from Santarcangelo, around the year 1600, produced this wine and called it Sangiovese, from ‘Sanguis Jovis’ (the Blood of Jupiter) for its ruby red colour and its hints of violet and red fruit.
From harvest 2011, our Sangiovese Riserva will be Romagna Doc Sangiovese Riserva Bertinoro! Ageing period 3 years...on the market from 2014 on!

VINITALY 2012

25-28/03/2012

Eight quality-oriented companies have settled there in the consortium “Bertinorowines” and were rewarded for their efforts in 2011 with an own local appellation: Romagna DOC Sangiovese Riserva Bertinoro.

The genuine, powerful, mineral-dominated wines from the hills overlooking the sea are already well known among connoisseurs – as “the other Sangiovese” these wines appeared already in various special interest magazines, and the Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso honored in 2011 and 2012 several vintages from Bertinoro with its coveted “Tre bicchieri “ award. So now is just the right moment to get to know a variety of strong character Sangiovese Riserva from Bertinoro.
