Sangiovese Bertinoro

The most famous of the local red wines is Sangiovese: the story goes that the Capuchin friars from Santarcangelo, around the year 1600, produced this wine and called it Sangiovese, from ‘Sanguis Jovis’ (the Blood of Jupiter) for its ruby red colour and its hints of violet and red fruit.
From harvest 2011, our Sangiovese Riserva will be Romagna Doc Sangiovese Riserva Bertinoro! Ageing period 3 years...on the market from 2014 on!

Hidden secret Bertinoro: eight Sangiovese Riserva

The eight Bertinoro wineries, members of the Bertinoro Wines Consortium, have organised a special wine tasting for professionals: journalists, buyers, importers, wine bars and restaurant owners.

You will find out the history of Bertinoro, features of ts terroir, why winemakers are struggling for obtaining the DOC Bertinoro (and the lastest news on it). The eight top class products -Sangiovese Riserva- will be tasted and typical food will be matched with Bertinoro wines after the guided tasting.
